Professor Namjung Kim joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in March 2026. He received his B.S. from KAIST, his M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University, and his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He previously worked at Hyundai Motor Company and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), and served on the faculty of Gachon University (2021–2026).

His Physics & AI-based Intelligent Design Lab studies AI-based multiscale material and structural design, scientific machine learning, uncertainty quantification, and design for additive manufacturing.
