Professor Jihwan Song was appointed as an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in September 2025. Professor Song is an alumnus who received a master's (2009) and doctoral (2015, advisor: Dong-cheol Kim) degrees from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sogang University. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at Sogang University and UC Berkeley (Professor Luke P. Lee's laboratory), he has served as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Hanbat National University since 2017.

My research areas are AI-based multiscale simulation and optimal design. In the Intelligent Convergence Design Lab (INCODE Lab), we research AI-based design and optimization for nano-bio systems (drug delivery, biosensors, organ chips) and next-generation energy systems (batteries, energy harvesting, structural optimization), and multi-scale simulations combining FEM, PFM, DFT and machine learning.
