Thermal, Fluids & Energy

Studies how energy is converted, how fluids flow and how heat is transferred — from high-power batteries in EVs, drones and robots, to precision cleaning in semiconductor fabs and cooling for AI data centers. Increasingly uses CFD, computational heat transfer and AI-based design and process optimization to drive next-generation energy and thermal-management systems. Five laboratories spanning simulation and experiment.

Also develops biomimetic robots, sensors and actuators, and biomedical manipulation systems.
