The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sogang University invites applications for a Visiting Professor position for the Fall 2026 semester, under the Sabbatical Leave Invitation Program for Faculty from Distinguished Overseas Institutions. 

1. Candidates

A full-time faculty of an excellent international university, who is willing to spend one year (from September 1st, 2026 to August 31st, 2027) on sabbatical at Sogang University (Applicants must be non-Korean nationals)

​2. Duties

A. More than one foreign language lecture per semester (prioritizing undergraduate lectures)

B. Collaborative research with professors from related departments and research institutes

3. Conditions and Support

A. Position : Appointed as a visiting professor (part-time faculty)

B. Payment : Paid according to the remuneration payment standards below

                   However, payment is based on the visiting professor's length of stay in Korea during the period of appointment.  

                   In principle, remuneration for the remaining period will not be paid if the professor leaves the country before the expiration of the appointment

                   period.

C. Accommodations

   1) With the cooperation of the Office of Gonzaga Hall and the Office of HR and General Affairs, a guesthouse owned by the school will be provided.  

       If there are no vacancies in the guesthouse, an outside accommodation will be arranged with the cooperation of the relevant affairs

   2) The university will subsidize the cost of use in accordance with its accommodation support standards

D. Airfare: Actual expenses for economy class fare (Round-trip fare)

E. Other

   1) Office and office supplies: Offices are assigned through the department or in cooperation with the Office of Planning. Office supplies are provided when 

      an office is assigned.

   2) Health insurance and other insurance: In principle, the individual must pay.​

4. Number of Applicants

Application is limited to two people per year, but in principle, no more than one person per department.

5. Recruitment Process and Work Progress

A. Recruitment process: Announcement and reception → Examination and deliberation → Appointment to the Faculty Personnel Committee → 

   Approval of the president of Sogang Univ. → Notification of the result

B. Work progress : The Office of Academic Administation is in charge of faculty appointment issues while the Office of International Affairs is responsible for

   information regarding accommodation and airfare support, visa issuance, and other living-related issues.

2. 지원자격

가. 해외 명문대학의 전임교원으로서, 1년(2026년 9월 1일부터 2027년 8월 31일까지)동안 우리 대학에서 안식년을 보내고자 하는 자(예외: 국적이 대한민국인 자)

나. 매학기 1과목 이상의 외국어 강의(학부 강의 우선) 가능한 자

다. 관련 학과 및 연구소 교수들과 공동연구 가능한 자

3. 근무조건

가. 임용기간 : 2026.09.01-2027.08.31

나. 처우

 1) 월급여 : 3,100,000원

 2) 숙소 지원 : 곤자가 국제학사 행정실, 인사총무팀의 협조를 얻어 학교 소유 게스트하우스 이용

                게스트하우스 여석이 없을 경우 관련 부처의 협조로 외부 숙소 마련​(숙소 지원 기준에 의거하여 지원하며 추가비용 발생 시 본임 부담)

 3) 항공료 : 일반석 운임 실비(왕복 요금)

 4) 기타 : 연구실 및 사무비품

              건강보험 및 기타보험은 개인 부담을 원칙으로 함
